FAQ

What is the AI Assistant in Optimizely?

Epicweb AI Assistant is a context-aware AI layer built directly into Optimizely CMS. It helps editors create, translate, optimize, analyze and manage content, while also enabling external AI agents to securely work with the CMS through Agent API.

Unlike a standalone chatbot, it understands the Optimizely context and can use tools to work with pages, blocks, properties, language versions and publishing workflows.

How does it work?

The AI Assistant works directly inside Optimizely CMS and understands the content you are working with, including pages, blocks, properties, languages, metadata, and content structure.

Editors can use the Assistant to create, translate, analyze, compare, optimize, and update content without leaving Optimizely or copying content into external AI tools.

The Assistant combines conversational AI with built-in tools, specialized assistants, configurable instructions, and the Agent API. This supports both editorial workflows inside Optimizely and AI agents that work with CMS content from external platforms.

  • Works directly inside Optimizely CMS
  • Understands the current page, blocks, properties, language, and metadata
  • Creates, rewrites, summarizes, and improves content
  • Translates individual fields, blocks, pages, and language versions
  • Helps compare and maintain content across languages
  • Supports SEO, AEO, and GEO optimization
  • Generates SEO titles, descriptions, FAQs, and structured content
  • Supports WCAG and accessibility workflows
  • Generates accurate alt text and image metadata
  • Analyzes images and generates new images and graphics
  • Supports tone of voice, spelling, easy-to-read content, and organization-specific writing guidelines
  • Uses specialized assistants for workflows such as SEO, translation, and accessibility
  • Uses tools to analyze, update, save, and work with content directly in the CMS
  • Supports custom C# tools and project-specific business logic
  • Can use your own data and knowledge sources for AI-generated responses
  • Works with multiple AI providers, including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Gemini, and custom AI integrations
  • Includes an Agent API that lets external AI agents work with Optimizely content through the same assistant and tool layer
  • Can connect AI agents from platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Teams, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other agent platforms
  • Keeps editors and organizations in control of changes, permissions, and publishing

The result is more than AI-generated text: it is an AI-powered content and agent layer for Optimizely, supporting both editors inside the CMS and AI agents working with the CMS from external platforms.
