What is the AI Assistant in Optimizely?

Epicweb AI Assistant is a context-aware AI layer built directly into Optimizely CMS. It helps editors create, translate, optimize, analyze and manage content, while also enabling external AI agents to securely work with the CMS through Agent API.

Unlike a standalone chatbot, it understands the Optimizely context and can use tools to work with pages, blocks, properties, language versions and publishing workflows.

 

 

How does it work?

The AI Assistant works directly inside Optimizely CMS and understands the content you are working with, including pages, blocks, properties, languages, metadata, and content structure.

Editors can use the Assistant to create, translate, analyze, compare, optimize, and update content without leaving Optimizely or copying content into external AI tools.

The Assistant combines conversational AI with built-in tools, specialized assistants, configurable instructions, and the Agent API. This supports both editorial workflows inside Optimizely and AI agents that work with CMS content from external platforms.

Is it free?

The AI Assistant is free to evaluate, although some limitations and license notifications may apply during the evaluation period.

For production use, we offer different subscription options depending on your needs, number of domains, languages and required functionality.

What does a subscription cost?

Pricing begins at:

Please note: Traffic costs are not included in the base price.

The price list is modular. Additional costs apply per domain and for optional modules such as the Image Module (generation), altText modules (image analysis), and the Language Manager (automated translation).

Do you offer EU data residency?

Do you offer AI assistance on your own data?

YES! we can offer to setup your own models in Azure and finetune them.

Thru our Custom AI provider we allow you to incorporate custom logic and utilize your preferred Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Meta Llama AI, Google Gemini AI, Anthropic Claude AI, or any other AI that offers a REST API. Documented here

How do translations work?

OpenAI's service supports over 92 languages, offering some of the most accurate and high-quality translations available worldwide. Additionally, you can provide specific terms or translation guidelines to tailor the translation process to your needs.

Google’s Translation LLM (powered by Gemini) on Vertex AI lists 49 supported source/target languages as of 7 Oct 2025. See the “Supported languages” table on Google’s documentation.
